CSS PADDING

CSS padding is the space around the inside of an element. It is an important part of the box model, and if you don't already know how to use it, I recommend learning. Plus, this week Google Chrome was updated to support talking to form fields. This leads the way to voice recognition on web pages and much more. Learn how to add speech input fields to your forms. And Darla teaches us how to use XML to format your information. There are lots of different software applications that web designers can use to improve their sites. Every Sunday I highlight a free or inexpensive software application beyond HTML editors that is good for web designers. But I'd also like to know about the tools you find valuable. Write a review of non-editor software you value

Understanding CSS Padding
Padding is the space inside an element on all four sides that sets the content apart from the border. When you are playing with layouts and trying to get your pages to look good, chances are you will want to add space to your elements. By understanding what padding is, you can start to understand how your content moves around in the white space surrounding it.

Talk to Your Web Pages
Okay, if you're like me, you probably already do talk to your web pages, or at least the HTML, especially if it isn't working. But with the HTML5 speech input attribute, you can set up your HTML forms to accept spoken input as well as typed. And best of all, browsers that don't support it display a text field just like normal. So you won't lose the data.

XML is about information
And storing that information in the XML in a usable format is very important. Darla has a lot of great articles on how to use XML. There are articles on adding information to XML, adding attributes to XML, and even how to display XML on a web page.

Poll: Who inspired you to become a web designer?
I was inspired in my work as a web designer by many people: my mom and dad had a huge part in getting me to follow my dreams. I have had several employers who encouraged me. And teachers were very influential. These days I get a lot of inspiration from other writers on the internet. And I get a lot of joy from helping my readers--yes, my inspiration now often comes right from you! Thanks!
